Old Business Cards + A Giveaway *CLOSED*

post signature

I just recently redesigned my blog. This is something that happens practically every year (hopefully this redesign will last me a bit longer). Why is it so hard to design for yourself? I digress. I have a pile of these fabulous, but outdated business cards. I don't want to throw them away, but the designer in me doesn't want to hand these out anymore as they aren't an indicator of what my branding looks like anymore.

Luckily for me, I designed these cards double-sided, so I can easily repurpose them in so many different ways. As you see here, I just sewed them together & displayed them back-side out & BAM! I've got a sweet little banner for a festive party or dinner.

If you haven't discovered the glories of sewing paper, I suggest you stop reading right this minute & GO DO IT RIGHT NOW. I love sewing paper. It's easy, you don't need any

special bells or whistles on your machine in order to do it, you just do it. Simple as that.

Allbusinesscards.com wants to know what would you do with business cards? Would you design a calling card? Make mini thank yous? Comment on this post (one comment per person ONLY) letting us know! 3 random winners will receive a prize of 500 one-sided business cards + shipping for free.

Comment on this post before 11:59pm MST May 19th. Winner will be announced May 20th. US & Canada entries only.

Good luck!

If you would like to win one of these little banners, comment on my teaser post at melissaesplin.com. Two winners will be announced for that giveaway May 20th. International entries on that giveaway are welcome.

I'd design my very first business card and I'd reuse them when they are out dated for making a memory game for my son

The uniform shape makes them handy for handmade flash cards or a memory game for the kids.

I would make cute thank you cards. I was thinking about doing them as postcards but that just seems a little too much (too big, too weird) right now ;)
I absolutely love the idea of using the backs of business cards for something else! Thanks for the giveaway and for getting some ideas in my head spinning!

Thanks for participating!! Your ideas were great!

  1. I love business cards for the simple idea of making a connection. So many times I share my business and I often get asked for business cards and I don't have any. Winning this would be a dream come true.
On that note, I wanted to share, if I had old cards I would recycle them by writing phone notes on the back side. Also because your cards are so nicely decorated on the back, I would use my decorative punches and punch out lots of shapes for simple greeting cards.

  4. I think it would be fun to print encouraging/empowering messages on business cards and leave them in random places to brighten people's day. In a shopping cart, public restroom, with your bill at a restaurant. That's what I would do if I won since I don't have a business to promote:)

  5. I happen to indeed be needing some business cards at just this moment! My hubby and I just started an illustrated invitation invite business (http://www.wearedrawntogether.net if you're curious!) and we need business cards! I can't keep scrawling our site and info on other people's business cards!

  16. What a great use for old cards! If I won, I'd use the business cards for my blog. Often I'm out taking a picture for my blog and people are curious about what I'm doing, and it would be great to have a card to give them.

  17. I'd love to win some cards! I would use them for a combo - probably calling cards and a biz card situation, but keep them generic so it's acceptable to hand them out to friends and not be all 'in yo face/this is my bidnass'.

  20. First, I love the concept behind this post. I use my old business cards when I paint frames around mirrors. It saves me from taping off that tricky edge and they just slide right under to protect the mirror. If I'm chosen, I'll make calling cards for my kiddos and I so we can make new friends and we can actually stay in touch. The chicken-scratch on the back of old receipts stuffed in my purse is for the birds!

  43. 1) I NEED new business cards, as a spinner/knitter and yarn designer HAS to market herself the good 'ol fashioned way.

    2) I've got a new idea though for my business cards (fingers crossed) I'd love to have an outline of the animal from which the fibre came from (example, alpaca, goat, sheep, etc) so then i can attach a bit of fibre directly ON the business card overtop of the outline. What a wonderful SOFT fibre experience all wrapped up in a little card.

    3) I would brighten people's day when they now only get some beautiful new yarn/fibre but also a well-designed and tactile card
